Frequently asked questions

Is it necessary to have a referral to Gynaecare?

It is not necessary to have a referral to attend Gynaecare.

If you have had some tests (eg pap test, ultrasound or other investigations) done with another doctor it might be useful to bring the results along to your appointment.

 

What days do you perform procedures?

Procedures including terminations of pregnancy and other procedures involving IV sedation eg IV pap, IV insertion of intrauterine device (IUD) or vulvoplasty are performed on a Tuesday morning.

Terminations of pregnancy are also performed on Thursday and Saturday mornings.

Vasectomy operations are performed on Thursday afternoon.

Appointments for colposcopy are available on Tuesday afternoon

 

What happens on the other days?

Appointments are available on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for general consultations relating to women's health and contraception.
