ENDOMETRIAL BIOPSY

An endometrial biopsy takes a sample of endometrial tissue from the lining inside the womb.

The sample is sent to the laboratory for examination.

This test is indicated if there is bleeding between periods or after intercourse. It may also be useful to assess the endometrium in post menopausal women.

The test can be performed with local anaesthetic but would be more comfortable under I.V. sedation.
